Together WE SHINE — Anchor to What is Real

Much of the conflict we are experiencing in the world today can be attributed to a battle of identities. As a species we are clinging so desperately to the various components of our self-identity, that we perceive anyone and anything which challenges that identity in any way as an existential threat that needs to be annihilated. We identify as our gender, sexuality, age, our religion, political party, nationality. Out of a fierce loyalty to that identity — and the members of our 'tribe' who identify similarly — we turn anyone identifies differently instantaneously into an enemy.

This is not productive. It is not helpful. It is not healthy.

This stubborn clinging makes it nearly impossible to change our mind, our viewpoint, our stance on anything. It forces us to choose delusion over facing reality. It coerces us into defying our own conscience rather than question the beliefs enmeshed in the…
