We meet Monday through Friday for one hour each day.

Prāna is one of the most widely referenced and narrowly understood aspects of the practice of yoga. So commonly defined as 'life force' with very little concept of what this actually means, most yoga practitioners know that prana is important, but we don't really understand why or how to practice with it.

This course offers an intellectual understanding of prana according to the masters of the Himalayan Tradition, as distilled by my teacher, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait. It includes tutorials for a krama - or wise progression - of prānāyāma practices which are designed to guide you through the various stages of breath awareness, prānic sensitivity, and a true experience of prānāyāma, in which you are able to masterfully harness prāna to fulfill your soul's greatest desires and needs.

This course is a registered YACEP and fulfills the Yoga Alliance requirement for 30 hours of Continued Education. The content is a compilation of recorded lecture, written explanations, tutorials and practicum. The composite of these practices will lead you to a more rich and fulfilling experience of prāna in support of a more rich and fulfilling experience of mediation, specifically Vishoka Meditation® the heart and soul of our Tradition.

The Yoga Sutra is the living source wisdom of the Yoga tradition. Using it as a guide, we can unlock the hidden power and experience the promise of Yoga in our life. The Yoga Sutra is as fresh today as it was 2,200 years ago when it was discovered by the sage Patanjali. By applying its living wisdom in our practice, we can achieve the purpose of life - lasting fulfillment and ultimate freedom.

Every time I read Patanjali's Yoga Sutras I am astounded by the wisdom they contain.  They are an intricate, in depth manual for maximizing our experience of humanity.  Many of us in the west begin our foray into yoga outside of the context of the Yoga sutras, and so miss out on the profound possibility yoga contains.

In Patanjali's first chapter of the Yoga Sutra, he dives deeply into the nature of the human mind - its promises and its pitfalls. He explores the nature of suffering, as well as revealing what is known as the 'secret' of the yoga sutra, the true nature of the self, divine, radiant, self-luminous joy beyond the reach of all suffering.

For this satsanga we will use Pandit Rajmani Tigunait's commentary on the Yoga Sutras as our guide. Panditji's commentary is practitioner oriented, fully grounded in a living tradition. It shares the essence of Pandit Tigunait's rigorous scholarly understanding of the Yoga Sutra through the filter of experiential knowledge gained through decades of advanced yogic practices and enriched by the gift of living wisdom he received from the masters of the Himalayan Tradition.

As human beings we were born for more than struggle and strife, for more than merely surviving. Human birth is a gift, an opportunity to experience beauty and meaning.

We were born to thrive. The ancient yogis knew this and through countless generations have curated and passed down a systematic approach to lifestyle, practice, and contemplation which generously, and genuinely affords us the opportunity to claim this birthright. One of these systems is the practice discussed at length in the Yoga Sutra, Vishoka Meditation®.

This course is a chance to begin your relationship with Vishoka Meditation® in a formal way. Taught in alignment with the Himalayan Institute, the Vishoka Meditation® Course will help you to create a strong and fertile foundation for a system of practice which has the power to infuse your life with profound beauty and joy.

The course consists of lecture content with Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, granting insight into the body of wisdom from which Vishoka Meditation® took form. It also includes a breakdown of each of the various techniques utilized in Vishoka Meditation® Stage One as well as ancillary and preparatory practices. In addition to these tutorials, the structure of the course allows for ample time to experience each technique in practice, to reflect on its efficacy, and to converse about its 'real life' application in a supportive community.

The Vishoka Meditation® Course is highly recommended to anyone with a minimal foundation in meditation as well as any yoga teacher or practitioner with a desire to practice traditional meditation as outlined by the Yoga Sutra - meditation which truly has the capacity to deliver the promises made by the yoga tradition - absolute freedom and lasting fulfillment.

This Course fulfills the pre-requisite for the Vishoka Meditation® Teacher Training.

"If we want to save the world, we must have a plan.
But no plan will work unless we meditate."
~ Dalai Lama

Meditation is one of the greatest gifts given to us by the human beings who lived before our time. Humans have always struggled, always suffered - so some of the wisest among our ancestors sought and discovered a reliable means for addressing and liberating ourselves from this suffering.

The means they discovered was meditation.

Meditation has become as widely misrepresented and misunderstood as yoga. There are many mindfulness modalities that have come to be known as meditation that - while they certainly have their benefits - are not actually equipped to deliver us from our suffering. Traditional yogic meditation, however, is designed to do just that.

I invite you to experience it for yourself.

Embodiment through Mantra

Embodiment is a buzz word in the yoga world these days. But what does it really mean? It means transitioning your engagement with yoga from a primarily intellectual endeavor to one of direct experience. The intellect is subject to doubt. Direct experience is undeniable.

Embodiment means that you are a living, breathing expression of your practice in day to day life. It means that all of life is an experience of the sacred, even the most mundane moments like folding laundry, checking email or driving your car.

How do we transition from the intellect to direct experience? For me, Mantra has been the key. Mantra invites the thinking mind to rest, held in a nurturing cocoon by the sacred Sanskrit sounds received by the Rshis thousands of years ago. These Mantras are living and breathing vibratory expressions of various aspects of the Divine. They live and breathe in creation, they live and breathe within us.

Mantra awakens us to the presence of these energies. They do so in a way which protects and expands the mind, and accelerates the process of enlightenment.

Private yoga & Meditation

Traditionally, yoga was almost always shared on a one-to-one basis as a means of direct transmission from teacher to student. The deeper my own study and practice grows, the more I realize the benefit - if not the need - for offering this highly customizable approach. We are each living in very unique bodies, and operating with very unique minds. So much personalized information must go into creating a practice that can efficiently and elegantly address these diverse, unique, needs. Private sessions give us the opportunity to do just that.

Let's get to know one another so I can learn how best to support you, and prescribe a practice which will empower you to heal and begin living the life of your dreams.
