About the event
An effective yoga practice requires a certain degree of self-effort balanced with trustful surrender. The nature of each of these elements is highly specific. This week we will explore the first element, self-effort, in the context of something the Yoga Sūtra calls abhyasa.
What is abhyasa?
Pandit Rajmani Tigunait defines abhyasa as the ardent effort to maintain a peaceful flow of mind, free from roaming tendencies.
This definition includes two key Sanskrit terms : Yatna and Sthiti.
Sthiti is the peaceful flow of mind, free from all roaming tendencies.
Yatna is enthusiastically investing everything it takes to achieve and sustain sthiti.
